My Story: From Farm to Boardroom

I grew up on a dairy farm on Vancouver Island, the son of Dutch immigrants. After high school, I attended Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, where I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration. This education provided me with a solid foundation for my future career in business. 

Before joining Book Depot, I spent nine years at Legacy Entertainment as a Partner and Operations Director. My business partner and I built a successful budget music company, which we eventually sold to a UK-based company. This experience taught me valuable lessons in entrepreneurship and business management. 

Since 2005, I've been serving as the CEO of Book Depot. My focus has been on sharing our company's vision, building strong relationships, and driving growth through various means, including acquisitions. I believe in investing in our people and leveraging technology to improve our operations continually. 

My wife Natalie and I have been blessed with six wonderful children – two boys and four girls, ranging in age from 15 to 26. Recently, three of our oldest children got married, and we now have three grandchildren, with two more on the way. As a family, we enjoy the outdoors, traveling, playing Spikeball, and reading good books.

I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had throughout my life and career. I look forward to continuing to lead Book Depot, working with our fantastic team, and serving our customers and suppliers to the best of my ability.
